Abagon reports the actual commercial 45 run time of Chico DeBarge's "Talk to Me" is 3:47, not 3:52 as stated on the record label.

my commercial 45 issued as motown 1858 states a run time on the label as 3:52 but actually runs 3:48......you can effectively recreate the true 45 version by fading out the last 0:03 of the below cd from the 3:45 to 3:48 mark

(S) (3:49) Motown 314530561 DeBarge - The Ultimate Collection

Has Chico DeBarge's self-titled LP from 1987 ever appeared anywhere on CD? (I've never seen a copy.) If not, does anyone have a copy of the vinyl LP who can pass along the run time for "Talk to Me"? I ask because it may run several seconds longer than the 45.

I've got the Chico DeBarge's self-titled LP last month. The actual LP running time and the listed time on the LP record label are "5:22" (Motown 6214ML). And I compared the LP with the commercial 45. The 45 is the same mix as the LP and the edited version from the LP.

By the way, the acutual 45 running time of my first report on this topic is wrong. I carefully clocked the 45 again. The time is (3:48). Sorry, Pat and Todd. Amend the 45 run time info, please.

Wow, Abagon! You've managed to uncover a significantly longer LP version that I don't think anybody else here even knew existed! Since Chico DeBarge's self-titled album doesn't seem to have ever been issued on CD, that means the LP version has probably never appeared anywhere in digital either.

In light of this new information, all database CD entries of "Talk to Me" to date should really have a "45 version" comment.
