While this wasn't a big hit until years after its release, I heard it on the air today, and it sounded pitched up compared to the CD versions. Knowing the guy who does the music for this station, who is also a die-hard "single version" guy, is it possible that the original 45 runs faster than the stereo LP? It could also be that my ears are off today, and it really didn't run faster. (I didn't have my CD copy handy to check.)

I don't have this on CD, but I timed out my 2 45s; the original stock 1968 release (ABC 45-10982) listed & actual=2:15, and the 1988 promo re-issue (A&M 3010) listed=2:17, actual=2:14. Hope this helps somewhat.

Seems to be pretty much in line with the database times. Perhaps this station's library copy is just wrong then. Thanks for checking!
