I noticed a large speed difference among some of my CDs with this track, so I dusted off my 45 (Windsong CB-11530, released 1979, printed 2:50, actual about 2:49) and compared.
The following CD has the correct pitch:- Body Talk - Only You (Time-Life R834-06 OPCD-2756A, 1996, runs 2:48)
The following two CDs have the same version, but run about 1.4% too fast:- Have A Nice Day Vol. 25 (Rhino R2 72299, 1996, runs about 2:47)
- The Number Ones: Lovin' Feelings (Simitar 55512, 1998, also runs about 2:47; is a digital clone of Rhino CD)
Sonically, I prefer the Rhino CD - it has a bit more of an "open" sound than the Body Talk CD, despite the pitch difference. (Adjectives don't work too well here, but "open" seems to fit the bill.) The EQ of the Body Talk CD sounds exactly like my 45.
