I only currently own a promo 45 for this song. Both its mono and stereo sides have listed times of (2:56). However, the stereo side actually runs (3:02), while the mono side actually runs (3:00). The two current database CDs that include this song feature slightly longer run times, at (3:07) and (3:08). Could anyone who may happen to own a stock 45 for this one possibly supply timing info for it?

Hi, Jim.
The actual running time of the commercial stereo 45 is (3:02), the listed time is "2:56" (20th Century TC-2070).
Also I have the CD "Bubblegum Classics volume one" (Varese Sarabande VSD-5535).
"Abra-ca-dabra" on this CD has the fade-in intro. (about 9 seconds)
The commercial 45's intro doesn't fade in.(about 3.5 seconds)

Thanks for the kind help, my friend. I had no idea your collection of original U.S. 45's went all the way back to 1974 - impressive!

After reading Abagon's post, I ordered a commercial 45. The intro is definitely different and, my opinion, the 45 has elements not in the CD version.

Jim: The commercial 45 I ordered also runs 3:02.

eriejwg, what/where are the elements on the 45 that are not on the LP
version? I am aware of only the intro, where the 45 has a whistle sound not
present on the LP version (in addition to it being shorter).

Unfortunately, David, I don't have access to my 45s at this
moment as we are prepping to move into a new house. Wish I
could be more help. I honestly don't remember how I came to
the conclusion I did. I could have been in error with that
statement.

Did we ever solve this? John had sent me a file a few years ago, but the "whistle" sound David hears on the intro of the 45 seems to also be there on the
LP version, just a few seconds later, though.

The 45 version intro has a whistle sound effect, the LP has no such sound. There is also a 6 second difference in the intro, the LP having a longer ramp up and the 45 having a short one.
