For the recent "Hard To Find Jukebox Classics 1958: Pop Gold" CD, Pat states it is the 45 version (in stereo). It runs 2:31. The Pop Annual book indicates a run time of 2:29. I know it's not too much of a difference, but when it's a speed difference (vs. a fade) I tend to notice such things. Does anyone have a 45 they actally time for us? Perhaps there was more than one pressing of this 45?

David -
My (somewhat beat up) commercial 45 (Roulette 4115) of The Playmates' "Beep Beep" lists a run time of 2:20, but I timed it at 2:31, exactly the same as the cd you listed. I don't detect any speed issues by ear.

My own attempt at a stereo 45 version ran 2:28. The 45 does run 2:31, but it has speed variations throughout the song, thus making it difficult to recreate a proper version in stereo.....the Hard To Find Jukebox Classics cd does replicate the 45 version in stereo faithfully with speed variations fixed to match the 45 and it is the correct time for the 45 version.
