I thought I'd start a dedicated thread to continue a discussion Pat and Gordon had regarding Ace of Base's "The Sign" in a previous thread. Their discussion inconclusively determined that some database CDs feature the song with a slightly shortened intro and the comment associated with these CD entries currently states: "slight editing error on the introduction". In actuality, these particular CDs are simply missing the first two percussion hits heard during the intro on the single and album version.
What's especially interesting about this situation, however, is that Gordon claims his promo CD single of "The Sign" also does not have the two opening percussion hits. Therefore, this would seem to suggest that the database comment for the aforementioned CD entries in question should actually be revised to state something like: "this is a DJ edit which is the same as the 45 and LP version but missing the first two opening percussion hits heard on the 45 and LP intro".
Gordon, perhaps you or someone else who has "The Sign" on promo CD single could enlighten us as to the disc's exact track listings and run times?
