I just obtained promo CD DPRO-12727 for "Boombastic." It contains the following tracks:
1. Edit (3:51) - this is an early fade of the LP version
2. Sting Remix Faded (3:50) - fades from 3:40 to 3:50
3. LP Version (4:06)
Listed times are also the actual times.

RPM Top Hits USA issued the 'Sting Remix' I believe.

Our station always played the "Sting Remix" (full-length) version from the commercial CD single with "In The Summertime."

This song recently appeared in a Chase bank commercial, which uses the LP version.
What's the consensus on the "hit" radio version (any format) from 1995? As I mentioned back in '09, my old top 40 station exclusively played the "Sting Remix" with the Marvin Gaye "Let's Get It On" sample. I was actually surprised to learn that the song never even cracked the top 40 in CHR/Pop airplay. By contrast, it peaked at #6 on the rhythmic chart and #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In my hometown (Hudson Valley, NY), I recall hearing
only the Sting Remix, and remember being surprised
when I got the LP and heard the album mix for the
first time.
On a side note, the "MTV Party To Go Vol. 8"
compilation included this song, but improperly listed
it as "Boombastic/In The Summertime". That's how
Billboard listed the double-sided single but it's no
medley, and "Summertime" isn't included on the
compilation. Chalk that one up to an overzealous copy
editor?

The Sting remix is all I ever heard on NYC radio back
during its chart run. Even though the album mix was first
on the cassingle everyone I knew was buying it for the
second track.
It can be frustrating to come up with a concensus "hit"
version on a lot of nineties singles. Labels really
seemed to go into overdrive servicing tons of different
mixes for different formats. My biggest pain in
collecting so far was locating the mix I heard of Jody
Watley's "I'm The One You Need" on my local Top 40
station. The cassette single had the album mix. The
commercial 12" inch had club mixes that weren't it. The
music video was close but not quite it. I even bought a 2
CD set of MCA promo versions of the song to not find it.
It finally turned up on a Japanese 3" CD single via Ebay
about ten years ago.

It depended on the market here in SW Florida. During the
song's chart run, I distinctly remember hearing Ft.
Myers stations playing the Sting Remix. But Top 40s in
Tampa played the LP version and I rarely heard the Sting
Remix in that market.

Aaron, I can confirm that summer the sting remix got a lot of airplay. My poor CD promo had to be replaced twice back then!
