I noticed TM Century issued both the "Edit" and the "Top 40 Edit" of "Chasing Cars." Does anyone know the difference? They appear to have the same run time. My Promo Only CD has a version that runs 4:06 and ends cold.

12 years later, I can answer that the top 40 edit promo
single https://www.discogs.com/release/11422929-Snow-
Patrol-Chasing-Cars has a listed timing error. The track
is 4:08 and ends cold. I think the edit that was pressed
on 3 different promos are all indeed the same. Unless
someone has the other two promo singles and can clarify
differently.

Actually, they are different. I now have these edits from TM Century (not the original discs), and the Top 40 Edit has a longer first chorus and shorter ending chorus.
To summarize:
LP version - 4:29 - has "half" first chorus
Edit - 4:06 - has "half" first chorus like the LP version but is a slightly different mix throughout
Top 40 Edit - 4:06 - has "full" first chorus and is the same mix as the Edit
It sounds like there's a crossfade during the first chorus of the Top 40 Edit that borrows the second half of the chorus from a later part of the song.

thank you for clearing that up! I just a/b the edit I have
on the promo cd with the version that is on Now That's What
I Call Music! 65 and the track durations are the same but
the song is edited differently.

I'm not certain if it was a custom job or not, but our
local "variety" station ("the 80s, 90s, and today!") plays
an edit that skips over the first verse entirely. It goes
from the guitar intro right into the first chorus.

I have the US issue of Now That's What I Call Music 65 and
Snow Patrol is not on my copy. Are there 2 pressings of
Now 65?

From what I see on Discogs, they must mean the UK version.
