Hi everyone. Just discovered this chat board and I'm happy to see I'm not the only freak who obsessively researches and collects remixes, especially edited, and even more on CD.
I'd like to know if anyone out there knows if the following remix/edits where released on compact disc, maybe by some DJ service or similar.
After many years of research as far as I've gone, I understand they were only released on vinyl (mostly 7") and are unavailable on CD.
The very first Madonna promo CD in the USA seems to be "Like A Prayer", so unfortunately stuff like the below was only distributed on vinyl to radio stations back then.
"True Blue" (Remix/Edit)
"Open Your Heart" (Edit of Extended Version)
"La Isla Bonita" (Remix)
Now, I do have the "True Blue" remix/edit on a double CD called "Radio 1 25th Birthday", but from its quality I can tell it was mastered from, I gather the 12" commercial vinyl where it was released aside from the promo in the US.
If anybody has info on compact discs that have these versions not mastered from the vinyls, I would love to know.
Thanks everyone,
Johann from Argentina

The answer from the resident Madonna expert: No, no, and no. 100% positive. :D
(BTW, the remix/edit of "True Blue" wasn't on the US promo... I think it was just the fade version (that's on the Japanese singles box) backed with either the LP version or the same fade. The remix/edit was only issued on the 12", in America, anyway.)
Welcome to the board.

Yes, welcome Johann. Also, I've tried to re-create the Edit of Extended Version for "Open Your Heart," and it cannot actually be done by editing the Extended Version. They did some remixing in addition to editing the song.

I thought so, thanks Brian.
Yes, the True Blue promo 7" has the album and fade versions. I do have the US 12" with the remix/edit, it sounds a whole lot better than the crappy 7" singles for Isla and Heart.
I did an edit of the Open Your Heart just so I didn't have to stand the whole 10 minutes after 19 years, but never tried to replicate the official edit because yes, it has the exact same structure of the album version with the added remix elements (save for the ending which fades a bit earlier), and several parts of that original structure are not present on the extended version.
Wow, I'm excited to have found fello version/remix obsessive analysts : p

Sorry, you corrected me because I mentioned the True Blue remix/edit was also available on the promo 7" and I didn't acknowledge that. So thanks for that one!

All these recent posts about Madonna put me in the mood again, and since there have been new members since I originally posted this last year, I will reiterate my inquiry.
The quest for 45 versions on CD : )
Does anybody have TM Century discs or ANY other similar compilations that have either "Open Your Heart" or "La Isla Bonita"?
I am still looking to see if the UK 45 versions of these are available on any CD, even if they are mastered from vinyl.
The exact version names are:
"Open Your Heart" (Edit of Extended Version, 3:59)
"La Isla Bonita" (Remix, 3:58)
I am aware as when originally posted that they were not released on CD directly by her label Warner to this day, so keep in mind I am referring to promo compilations or any official CD that you may have lying around.
As I mentioned on my original post, I do have the UK 45 version of "True Blue" (remix/edit) on an official UK Radio 1 Anniversary double CD set (commercial), and just as the other two, this version is unavailable on any Warner CD so far.
Therefore I would not be that surprised if the other two were released somewhere on an official non-Warner CD, too.
Thanks again for the time!

Yes, the remix of "La Isla Bonita" has been serviced on a TM Century CD. After giving it a careful listen, my conclusion is that it is a vinyl transfer that has been cleaned up to remove surface noise & clicks. I will say, though, that it is VERY clean. If you're listening casually, you probably wouldn't notice it's from vinyl.

Wow, quicker than I thought, thank you Aaron!
I met this ex radio DJ some time ago, and he assured me there was a remix of "Isla" on one of his promo discs, so he must have been referring to this one!
Would it be possible for you to list catalog number or whatever relevant info to track this CD down?
There is a local fair where I have seen a box filled with TM Century discs, I might get lucky : )

Thanks again to Aaron, almost there!
Just one more single and we have all US and UK 45's from the album "True Blue" on CD.
We are only missing the UK 45 version of "Open Your Heart".
I know you're out there somewhere said The Moody Blues.

Re: True Blue "remix/edit" 4:22 from the 12" vinyl --
I understand that this still has never been released on an official CD from master tape. I've never heard this version and I'd love to hear it. Could anyone possibly send this mix to me? The True Blue "Color Mix" (also from the 12") has been issued on CD quite a bit - including a European CD single and on the 2001 reissue of the whole Madonna "True Blue" album as a bonus cut. So you'd think they'd release this 4:22 remix/edit on that CD or at least some Madonna CD. Hopefully someday.

It has been. It's in another thread (maybe my Madonna 45 versions thread) that it's on the out of print UK V/A CD called "32 Ones on One." Aaron and I both disagree with elcoleccionista. We hear nothing that would indicate the song is from vinyl on that CD.

I'm confused - elcoleccionista says the CD is called "Radio 1 25th Birthday" - a various-artist double CD (where it sounds like vinyl), and you're saying it's on a various-artist double CD called "32 Ones On One" (where it sounds like tape.) Aren't these two different collections? Or are both titles part of the same CD?

In the other thread that Brian was referring to: The US 12-inch single for "True Blue" contained a remix/edit of the title track, which was issued four years later on the 2-disc UK CD compilation "32 Ones on One - Radio 1's 25th Birthday, 1967-1992." This comp frequently appears on Ebay UK for not unreasonable amounts of money.

The full title is "32 Ones On One - Radio 1's 25h Birthday."

I was at my local record store this weekend and was picking up some Steppenwolf 45s for kicks & grins.
Remembering this thread recently, I also picked up a 45 of Madonna's "True Blue."
I was reading the deadwax and ran across something besides the usual numbers. Also imprinted are two words "Future Disc."
Is there an explanation of the meaning to this? The 45 itself says the track is 4:16 in length. Is this the same as the Remix/Edit?

"Future Disc" is just the name of the mastering facility. The album version is 4:16, the Remix/Edit is 4:26.
What are the deadwax numbers? Can you play the record? It's very obvious from the opening whether it's the remix or not.

There's a symbol before the deadwax numbers that looks like a letter "S" that has an "R" in the top curl and a "C" in the bottom one.
The Numbers are: 7-28591-A-SR3
The 45 looks totally playable, but would need a thorough cleaning before I'd try it. Maybe I will add getting a turntable up and running to my task list.
I also noted that this guy has a bunch of the 12" 45 rpm discs as well. I was thinking about them as a decoration, since I have no Madonna artwork here.
Maybe that will come through as an image.
