My top 40 station always played the "Radio Remix" from the promo CD. I've never actually compared it to the album version, but my Promo Only CD runs 4:04, and it's the same version we played on the air.

The commercial CD single (Warner 9-16946-2) also features the "radio remix" with a listed and actual run time of 4:09. I'd guess your Promo Only fades it a few seconds early. It is definitely not the same mix as the album version on Dizzy Up The Girl.

Thanks, mstgator! That's typical of Promo Only, unless the promo CD fades earlier than the commercial cd single.

Aaron, it does seem that your Promo Only CD fades a few seconds early. My promo CD single matches up with Mstgator's commercial CD single length. And while I have it pulled, I may as well include its brief details:
-Goo Goo Dolls-"Black Balloon" (PRO-CD-9790)
1-(Radio Remix) (listed & actual 4:09)

Can someone please explain to me the difference between the single and album version of The Goo Goo Dolls' "Black Balloon"? I compared what is reported to be the "Radio Remix" on my Promo Only Mainstream Radio DJ CD subscription series (the same as what Aaron has) to my copy of The Goo Goo Dolls' Dizzy up the Girl CD and they sound identical. Even the wave files appear to be exactly the same, except for the Promo Only disc fading out :05 sooner.
Perhaps later pressings of Dizzy up the Girl replaced the original album version with the single version? (I purchased my copy just last winter.)

Well... I'd like to clear up the mystery, but after several days of searching I've
come to the conclusion that my Dizzy Up The Girl CD seems to have
gone missing, and everywhere I look on the internet I'm only coming up with
what sounds like the hit version (even on iTunes and Amazon). So perhaps
my memory is faulty (although it seems odd the single would be labeled
"radio remix" if it matched the album version). Does anybody else have a
copy of the Dizzy Up The Girl CD purchased prior to the summer of
1999 (when "Black Balloon" was released as a single)?
