My commercial 45, confirmed as Liberty 56009, has a listed time of (2:24), but an actual time of (2:29). My 45 is styrene, with deadwax of "LB-2497". Furthermore, all five of the current database CDs that feature this song (all in stereo), run much shorter, between (2:15) and (2:18). At first glance, it appears that the mono 45 version could run as much as :14 seconds longer than its stereo LP version counterpart. I also happen to own two multi-disc import collections by him (EMI's 1998 2-CD "The Essential & Collectable Bobby Vee", and Liberty's 2006, 3-CD set, "Bobby Vee: The Singles Collection") but, unfortunately, both of these comps also include the shorter, incorrect stereo LP version, not the 1967 45 version.

Jim, my commercial 45 of "Beautiful People" also runs (2:29). It's a vinyl pressing; deadwax is "LB-2497", "Nashville Matrix" (in their usual script logo) and "5".

Speaking of the U.K. Bobby Vee: The Singles Collection, I agree that it was a disappointment that they used the stereo track. Another big letdown to me was that they also used the stereo take of Bobby's 1966 #52 hit, "Look At Me Girl." There's a high harmony vocal on the 45 that is either missing from or is deeply buried in the stereo mix, and when the title is sung repeatedly at the end of the record, it really loses something without that top harmony part.

Just two more reasons why Collectors Choice should do a Bobby Vee mono singles set. :)
