The edit I have from RPM Top Hits USA runs 3:29 and is called the "Night Mix."

Here is my promo CD single information:

-Melissa Etheridge-"If I Wanted To" (PRCD 6917-2)
1-Night Mix (listed & actual 3:29)
2-Day Mix (listed & actual 3:29)

I have forwarded both of these to Aaron for his analysis, as after a very quick listen both of them sound quite similar to me.

Aaron, did you ever get a chance to compare the "Night Mix" and "Day Mix" of Melissa Etheridge's "If I Wanted To" from the promo CD single to determine how they differ?

I'm also curious to know if they both differ from the single version.

I am curious too, as when i heard it as a current on a hot
A/C station, it sounded like the synth or keyboard was
louder in the choruses. But the cd single a i bought had
same mix as the LP. :-(

i just listened to the "day mix" and the only difference from the "night
mix" (that i can detect) is that the vocals are louder in the mix. but which
version was actually played on the radio?

The "Night Mix" sounds right to my ears, but my old top 40 didn't play this song very heavily. In addition to the vocals being louder on the "Day Mix," the drums are a lot lower and the keyboards are a lot louder when compared to the "Night Mix."
