I noticed in the database that you have the comments "faded early" next to some entries but not others for Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More, Baby." I have this song on All Time Greatest Hits running (3:59), so I'm guessing they faded this one early.

Also, I have it on Mastercuts Breaks, which is an import, but it's a slightly different edit. On that copy, the drum intro is edited out (so there's the five drum hits and then it cuts to where the organ comes in). Also, there's a very bad edit right before the fadeout. I'm guessing this is a mistake on their part, but I thought I'd check.

This topic was buried, but I'd like to revisit it, and hopefully someone can provide some info.

1) Is the version on All-Time Greatest Hits the 45 version, but faded early? It runs (3:59) while the actual 45 version is (4:08). The comment next to the entry just says (45 version).

2) Do I have an unsuccessful attempt to re-create the 45 version on my Mastercuts CD? The piano/organ on that copy starts at (0:01) instead of (0:06) like on All-Time Greatest Hits.

Switching topics to "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up"...

I have a CD claiming to have the promo 45 version of this song which runs (3:59) (It's a custom edit that was given to me.) It starts off with the high hat for five seconds and then edits to where the version on All-Time Greatest Hits begins.

I did not check the edits further to see if it matches up the rest of the way. Before I spend time doing that, let me ask, do I have a bogus edit, or does the short promo version differ from the commercial 45?

The database claims that ATGH has the 45 version but :09 longer. If the commercial 45 and short promo version are identical, then one of the two versions I have is incorrect.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks a MILLION to Jim who helped me answer these questions...

First, without checking all of the edits on ATGH, the (3:59) version of "I'm Gonna Love You..." appears to be an early fade of the (4:08) 45 version.

Second, Jim says that the short promo and stock 45 versions of "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up" are the same. Given that information, I am happy to report that the version on ATGH is NEITHER the 45 nor LP version, as they clipped off the high hat on the intro. My custom edit, without checking all the edit points, appears to be correct.
