My sources tell me that in the Billboard issue of 12/31 (the charts for which will be posted on their site Thursday), Mariah Carey will score her 17th #1 on the Hot 100 with "Don't Forget About Us." And believe me, this is a true #1 hit -- #1 in both downloads and airplay.
In addition, she becomes the first artist (I think) to replace herself at #1 on the still fairly new Hot Digital Songs chart, knocking her own hit "All I Want for Christmas is You" out of the #1 slot.
I'll bet Virgin Records is kicking themselves. Isn't that the label that dropped her when her first album for them didn't do too well?
