Now, the database indicates the following info.
(dj copies of this 45 stated times of (3:59) and (4:51) but they actually ran (4:04) and (4:51); commercial copies were all (4:51))
The actual running time of my commercial 45 is (4:04), this running time is the same as one side of the dj copy on the database. While the listed time is (4:51), also it states "THE MAIN EVENT/FIGHT (SHORT VERSION)" on the record label. (COLUMBIA 3-11008 matrix number: "zss - 165899 1G").

Interesting... what is different about the 4:04 version? Does it cut out the slow intro?

The DJ edit is basically the same edit as the 45 (and short LP version) and does have the slow intro, but at approx. 3:45, during that "extra extra" chorus, it doesn't edit there, it has the full chorus like the long version and then fades during it.
If that makes sense.....(?)

A friend and myself re-created this version in digital using his DJ 45 dub as a reference.

Does anyone have the commercial 45 that runs (4:51)?

I do, Pat. My particular commercial 45's actual time did come in at two seconds shorter than the listed, at (4:49), with deadwax info of "ZSS-165899-1C".

Thank you for the accurate run time info, Jim!

It's impossible to recreate the (4:04) version using the (4:51) version on the "A Collection Greatest Hits And More". But both versions are the same from the music starting to the 3:52 mark (before "I can't wait" lyric).

That is correct, to make the DJ edit you need the long LP version, as the chorus it fades on is not edited like the short version is (the edits only match the short version until that 3:52 point.)
