My commercial 45, which is confirmed as Tamla 54080 and has deadwax info of "DM-V-031304-2", has a listed time of (2:49), but an actual time of (3:07).

While doing some research on The Gavin Report, I found this little tidbit from the issue dated July 5, 1963, regarding
"Fingertips"...
A few sharp production men have combined Parts 1 and 2 and edited the composite down to less than 3 minutes.
I'd love to hear that one!

My stock 45 has the starting point a little later than all CD versions I have. The song opens right on the word "everybody." In fact, the edit is so tight, it almost truncates the beginning of Stevie's vocal. On all CD versions I've heard, the preceding note is always there, so you hear a split-second horn blast just before his first vocal. This is how it's heard on Hitsville USA.
Does anyone have a 45 with the quick horn blast just before the vocal?

I second the question. We are thinking of putting out the
45 mix in stereo and I want to be sure we get it
absolutely right.

The UK Oriole pressing I have does not have the horn blast
at the beginning of Part 2, FWIW.
