Although it only hit #43 on the Hot 100, "Buddy X" had a significant amount of airplay in 1993, reaching #14 on the R&R CHR chart. I've found details for two different US promo singles, and I will list the printed details below:
DPRO-12766
1. Buddy X
There is no description or time listed on the disc itself, and I cannot find a scan of the insert to see if it's printed there. The disc does note that it's "remixed" and states "Album version available on Homebrew."
DPRO-12782
1. Buddy X (Falcon & Fabian Remix) (listed 4:26)
2. Buddy X (Falcon & Fabian Jeep Mix) (listed 3:36)
3. Buddy X (Masters At Work R&B Version) (listed 4:33)
4. Buddy X (Masters At Work 12" House Remix) (listed 7:33)
5. Buddy X (Masters At Work R&B Bonus Beats) (listed 3:06)
The music video is similar to the album mix; however, it has a crowd of people yelling and fighting with each other throughout the song. There is a similar version on the import CD single called the "What's Up Mix" (actual time of 3:01). The yelling and fighting on this version stops when the first verse begins, though.
My TM Century GoldDisc has a version that starts with cymbal taps and runs 2:52. I have another copy from a promo CD called Hot Pop Hits Vol. 21 that matches my TM GoldDisc, although it has an acappella "ehhhh" and some silence before the cymbal taps start. That version runs 2:54.
What a mess!
Without actually owning the promo CDs, I'm curious to know what version is on the 1-track and if it's really a remix like it says.

I have the second promo listed. Those mixes don't match the version radio played. Neither does the album version.

Ed just sent me a copy of the 1-track promo, and it matches what is on "Hot Pop Hits Vol. 21." It starts with the acappella "ehhh" and silence. Now, earlier when I said the video is similar to the album mix, I was using the album version sample from "Homebrew" on iTunes as my reference. It's possible, though, that they replaced the original album version with the single mix.
Mainrhythm, are the differences between the LP and promo version drastic?

OK they aren't as totally different as I had thought.
The album sounds pretty much like the golddisc version.
The golddisc which we'll call the radio version has the two cymbal hits on the intro. The album does not.
The album has a piano that comes in around 2:08 and the backing music fades leaving a solo piano and some vocal adlibs on the outro. It's about 2:48 and ends with a piano note decay.

Yes, it does have the dropout on my GoldDisc. Thanks for explaining the difference between the album and promo.
