Pretty much every time I can recall hearing Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" on the radio, the song has consisted of a much shorter guitar intro than on the 4:27 version that has always appeared on CD to date. But even my Promo Only Mainstream Radio DJ subscription series contains the 4:27 version with the full-length guitar intro.
Was there an official promo single release containing this shorter radio edit I'm accustomed to hearing?

Todd, my copy from RPM Top Hits U.S.A. runs 4:05 and is labeled as a 'single edit'.

Yes, I have the promo CD for this at home, and I will post the details when I get a chance. From memory, it is a 2-track single with the "Single Edit" (as John mentions above) and the LP version. The single edit does, indeed, have a much shorter guitar intro.

Prcd 9347-2
1. Single Edit (3:59 listed; 4:07 actual)
2. Album Version (4:30 listed; 4:28 actual)
The versions and times are only listed on the disc itself, not on the inserts.

As a supplement to the DJ CD single info now in the database, commercial single copies of Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" have an actual run time of 4:28. (Thanks to Edtop40 for passing along this information.)
