Does anyone remember if a Promo CD was issued for 'Dream About You', the versions I've heard on compilations have the drop beats, however, the version played on the radio never had them. Does anyone remember?

Btw, I'm now on the week trial of Pat's Top40 Database. Pat your efforts are astounding, and now I can start collecting CD's again! If only I knew about it sooner. I no longer need to reference TM Century's song list.

Dave, allow me to also extend my personal welcome to you on the Board. I
don't know what a "drop beat" is, but, listening to the two mixes on my
promo CD single, I think I know what you are referring to, as percussion is
quite sparse on Cut 1. The "drop beat" only appears on Cut 2, which
probably explains why you never heard it on the radio in '95. Here are my
promo's details (no listed times were provided):

-Stevie B--"Dream About You" (THCDPRO-2204)
1-Dream About You (non-described version) (actual 4:03)
2-Dream About You (808) (whatever that means - possibly code for "drop
beats included!") (actual 4:03)

Well thank you, Jim. Another fellow New Englander! Are you a magician, and did you just pull that promo right out of your top hat? Like Aaronk; your contributions here are essential. You must be a Program Director, and have acquired a large collection of gifts. I'm guessing a collection that would excite me forever, and would turn you into my new best friend. This is more of my hobby than anything else, and I thought I was alone. <grin>

Could you forward me a copy of Cut 1 from your promo?

All the best,sir!

Dave

To Jim:

In your posting you were curious what the "(808)" notation ment.

It was a reference to the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer that was used on the track.

The TR-808 is probably the most revered drum machine in hip-hop history.
