The actual LP running time is (6:04), the listed time is "6:06" on the LP record label (title Wotupski!?! EMI America MLP-19011)
There are no listed LP version in the db.@The indicated times of 2 CD entries that have comment of "12 version" on the db are about the same as the actual LP running time.
There are 4 vocal portions including Madonna's chorus on the LP version. They are at 0:51-2:34, 2:49-4:05, 4:40-4:56 and 5:13-6:02.
The LP "Wotupski!?!" contains only 5 songs, but 33 1/3 RPM. This is the parent album LP for "Sidewalk Talk."
The actual commercial 45 running time and the listed time are (3:57)

I noticed that the original parent album for this top 40 hit from 1986 is missing from the on-line database. In this case, the "album" in question was actually a five-song EP, and was marketed as such by the record label, as it was assigned a special EP catalog no. and given an appropriate lower-than-usual suggested list price. As abagon originally touched on in his post above from 2011, the EP, titled Wotupski!?!, was released on EMI America 19011 in September of 1984. At that time, the EP was issued on vinyl & cassette only (have the latter myself) - there was no CD. It managed to "Bubble Under" Billboard's "Top 200 Albums" chart for one lone week, when it came in at #206 in the magazine's October 20, 1984, issue - but that was as high as it ever got...

The lead single, also released in September of '84, was "The Mexican" (EMI America 8240); it failed to crack the pop chart. However, the 12" version of "The Mexican" actually TOPPED the dance chart in Billboard, so next came "Sidewalk Talk" as the follow-up in December. By February of '85, the 12" version of "Sidewalk Talk" had also climbed all the way to #1 on the dance chart in Billboard - but for whatever reason, there was no 7" single released at the time. Fast-forward another 9-10 months to October of '85, and "Sidewalk Talk" finally DOES get issued as a 7" single, appropriately backed w/ "The Mexican" (EMI America 8297). It would crack the "Hot 100" in Billboard's November 16 issue, and go on to peak at #18 in February of '86, some 16-17 months after the parent EP was initially released. At this time, I don't recall why "Sidewalk Talk" suddenly made a resurgence as a pop hit so long after it had already been a dance hit, causing the label to finally release it as a 7" single in late '85 - but there must be a story there somewhere...

Anyway, the Wotupski!?! EP was finally released on CD here in the U.S. in 2011, on Gold Legion 67094 562222. Gold Legion's catalog nos. do admittedly appear a bit confusing, and it seems that Pat has already interpreted them two different ways for the listings in the db. At this time, only three CDs from the label appear there: the V/A compilation Disco Discography Volume 1 on Gold Legion 6231, Laura Branigan's Self Control on Gold Legion 6239, and her Branigan album on Gold Legion 562382. I admittedly don't have any of those CDs myself, but I assume the latter could also be interpreted as simply "6238", thus giving it consecutive catalog nos. w/ Self Control - which would make sense - or instead, I assume the first two could be expanded to "562312" and "562392", respectively (just want to be consistent). So depending on which way we want to go here, Wotupski!?! could be interpreted as being on either Gold Legion 6222 or 562222 - take your pick...

I have the Jellybean CD from Gold Legion myself, and if Pat wishes to add it immediately, I can report that "Sidewalk Talk" (track 2) has an actual time of (6:05), and is of course the "LP version". However, there's yet another twist to this story! For this CD re-issue, Gold Legion added four bonus tracks to the original EP, consisting of two remixes/12" versions of each of the two hits: "Sidewalk Talk" (tracks 6 & 7) and "The Mexican" (tracks 8 & 9). Now if you look up the page for this CD re-issue on Discogs here and scroll down a ways, you'll see where another user posted the following under "Notes": "The first batch of this CD mistakenly had 'Sidewalk Talk' (original version) repeated 3 times on the CD, instead of tracks 6 & 7 being the remixes of the song." (The customer reviews for the CD on Amazon also bear this out.) Well, after giving it a listen, I discovered that regrettably, my copy is one of the early "error" pressings of this CD, w/ the same (6:05) LP version of "Sidewalk Talk" repeated as tracks 6 & 7. (Grrr!) So at this time, I'm afraid I can't also report the actual running time of the two remixes/12" versions, which are found only on second (later) pressings of the CD. If it helps, the matrix no. on the hub of my "error" copy is DIDX-761690, some blank space, and then just a 1. I assume the corrected copies would have an "RE" or "RE1" added, or perhaps some other indicator...

Luckily, it appears that the Wotupski!?! CD is still in print, as it's shown as being available on Gold Legion's official web site, and in addition, there are currently several new (sealed) copies available on eBay. I obtained my copy from a third-party seller on eBay a couple years ago, and would love to add several other CDs of theirs to my collection, but after reading the horror stories from fellow board members over in some other threads here, I've been hesitant to order from Gold Legion directly. Have they gotten any better lately???
