It's my understanding there was a remix of Jason Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem" featuring Ludacris that was released as an official digital download single and its sales helped propel the song into the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Does anyone have the run time info for this remixed version and does anyone recall it garnering Top 40 radio airplay?

BB showed the "featuring Ludacris" credit for just one week (July 2, 2011), which just happened to be the song's peak week on the Hot 100 (#7). BB reported that the Ludacris version accounted for 60% of the song's downloads that particular week. That version runs (3:52), which is slightly longer that the non-Ludacris version (3:47). I never heard the Ludacris version on the radio, but it might've got played somewhere.

I doubt that any country station played the "Featuring Ludacris" mix save for Clear Channel stations which did play it a short time.

Thanks, Paul. Out of curiosity, how will Joel Whitburn's publications handle this emerging trend of record labels issuing newly special remixes featuring a guest artist to maximize a song's peak chart position? In other words, will future Whitburn publications count Ludacris as having a Top 10 hit with "Dirt Road Anthem"? How about in other cases like Rihanna's "S&M" (in which a later remix featuring Britney Spears was released to help propel the song to #1 on Billboard) and Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" (in which a later remix featuring Nicki Minaj was issued and helped push the song to a higher #3 chart peak)?

We will put a trivia note in for such titles under the main artist, but will not list it under the secondary artist.

Did any CHRs play the version with Ludacris? None around here did. The PD of one of my country stations spiked this version a couple times, but didn't play it regularly. He's more of a CHR guy anyway so that may be why he did it.
