My U.S. commercial 45 of "Don't Say Goodnight And Mean Goodbye" by The Shirelles (Scepter 1255) is the same version as on the Sundazed Foolish Little Girl CD. The only other CD on which I have the song is the Varese Sarabande 25 All Time Greatest Hits CD, which contains an alternate take.
There are a few lyrical differences. At about (1:08) on the 45, after Shirley sings the line "But tonight doesn't seem like the other times," she sings "No-no-no" before the next line. The "no-no-no" is not on the Varese CD. At about (1:18) on the Varese CD, after the line "But now I hear you sighing", she sings "Oh, yes I do". The "Oh, yes I do" is not on the 45.
There are also differences in the ad libs near the end of the song. The 45 is also significantly slower.

Right you are Paul and I can add that all the stereo appearances on cd do not match the vinyl 45 or the Sundazed Foolish Little Girl cd. Now before I enter any comments in the database I need to know what version appeared on the mono Foolish Little Girl vinyl LP and what version appeared on the stereo Foolish Little Girl vinyl LP. Anyone have either of these vinyl LP's that can comment here?

i was able to compare my vinyl 45 to the cd version on the
sundazed cd below
(M) (2:49) &nb sp; Sundazed 6017 Foolish Little Girl
and they are identical.....this should be noted in the db
and that the stereo versions are alternate takes of the
song...

Ed I think you are missing the point of this thread. Yes the Sundazed 6017 cd is the 45 version but before I can enter a proper description in the data base I need to know if the 45 version also appeared on the mono vinyl LP "Foolish Little girl". For that matter I need to know what version appeared on the stereo vinyl LP "Foolish Little Girl". (was that an alternate take also)?

Bringing this forward, in case some of us missed it (I did!) and can offer help.

If I might add to the mystery...I have just checked my vinyl "Greatest Hits" LP (Scepter 507 on the jacket but SPS-507 on the label) and I discovered that it is not only the alternate version, it is in very wide stereo, unlike the Highland "16 GH" and the Varese "25 All-time GH" CDs, which are either mono or extremely crummy stereo. Can you check the database to see if this wide stereo version appears on any of the other CDs?
