Not a Pop chart hit, but a true R&B classic, I'm hoping some of you intrepid collectors can help me out with a question about Etta James' "The Wallflower (Roll With Me Henry)." The version on the Heart & Soul box set is bone dry -- no reverb, but has stunning sound quality. All other versions I've heard have varying degrees of reverb, but I haven't found any that sound as good as the box set. My question is, is there reverb on the original 45 (or 78)? If someone could weigh in and provide running time too I would appreciate it!

The 78 RPM original has no reverb. The 45 RPM issue later on did have reverb added. The Bihari Brothers who owned Modern were notorious for revamping older tracks.

Thanks for the info Kent. Much appreciated. That makes the Heart & Soul box the "go to" source for the original, no reverb version.
