my commercial 45 for the spokesmen song 'the dawn of
correction' issued as decca 31844 states the run time on
the label as 3:38 but actually only runs 3:22...that brings
it in line with the db entries....this 45 run time s/b
added to the db....

Has the mono 45 mix of The Spokesmen's "Dawn of Correction" ever surfaced anywhere on CD? Unfortunately, all database CD entries to date contain the dreadful sounding stereo mix with added reverb.

The original stereo LP did not have that reverb on it. I think John Madara put a mono version on cd but I am not sure if it is the mono 45 version or a fold down of the cd stereo mix.

It's come to my attention that The Spokesmen's The Dawn of Correction LP from 1965 has been issued on compact disc by the CD Baby label. I downloaded an mp3 of the title track on Amazon and am encouraged to report it's in very good sounding mono with no added reverb, unlike on all other database CDs to date. Fortunately, the CD is still in print so I'm going to order a copy. Once I have it, I'll report back with all the details needed for database consideration.

He did, Tom. In 2010, on the "That Philly Sound" label, CD catalog no.
118. I just bought this CD from Amazon. It does not appear to be a
bootleg, has an UPC symbol, an address of PO Box 20, Cambria, CA, and a
website (still there, as of today) of www.thatphillysound.com. 12 tracks. It
is a straight reissue of the original Decca LP, which was issued in both
mono and stereo versions. I have just reviewed "Dawn Of Correction". It is
mono, and runs (3:20). I would be happy to shoot out a file of this song, if
anyone is both talented and curious enough to determine if this version is
a stereo fold down, or a dedicated mono mix.
