Ed happened to be timing up his 45 for this, Challenge #
59098 - and he noticed a difference between his 45 and
the version on the Eric cd "Hard To find 45's on cd Vol.
10".
The 45 does not list a time but runs 2:38.
The stereo version on CD is the hit recording, but the
stereo is missing the first :02 of the 45's intro, and
also ends cold. The 45 fades just before the cold end
happens.
The stereo is also pitched slower in speed.
I did ask Bill B about the difference, as i couldn't
recall myself, but the honest answer is i think all 3 of
us simply overlooked the intro difference.
As for the cold end, we may indeed have simply left it
intact for collectors, instead of fading it. The stereo
version was a sought-after collector's item.
For Pat,
i'm not totally sure how you'd label this stereo version,
but i tried researching it, and as far as we can tell the
master was pulled from an LP reel, but it may have been a
Best-of type LP. There was a challenge LP titled "There
She Goes" and we assume it was the same stereo version,
but not sure.
So, a short description is likely "LP version"....we're
just not sure if it was the *first* LP version and don't
know what was on the mono LP.
Any addl. input appreciated.
