I have just acquired a special 7" "disco", late 1975 promo 45 for "Volare".
This version has the same stock # as does its 7" commercial copies
(Capitol 4134). Both sides are stereo, have identical deadwax info of "S-
PRO-8253-H-1", start with a cold intro, and have both a listed and actual
time of (4:53).
Between 11PM and 1AM on the top of this 45's label, it contains the five
clear bold letters "DISCO", which Capitol typically utilized during the
1978/79 peak era of producing 12" disco singles. However, I don't think
I'd ever seen it appear on a promo 7" before, until this copy. Since it was
already 18 months after "Rock The Boat" crossed over from the discos to
be a #1 hit, Capitol was clearly looking to exploit the then-breakout
genre. So when 12" singles started popping up by 1977, they used the
same logo they had for the surely few-in-number disco 7" promos, like
this one.
