Ed, my 1962 stock copy of Parkway 849 also has the same actual time for
"Popeye" (2:26) as your report above, but my copy's listed time for that
side is (2:25), not (2:29).
And although the #10 BB peak for the "Popeye" side was eclipsed by the
#2 BB peak for the flip side, Limbo Rock, my stock 45 label has "Popeye"
as P849-A (with typewriter deadwax of "P-849-A3"), with the "Limbo
Rock" side label stating P849-B, with typewriter deadwax of "P-849-B2").
My stock 45 copy apparently came from an earlier pressing run than yours
did. Because early on, it looks like Parkway intended for "Popeye" to be the
A-side. Over the years, I've been surprised at just how many times the
labels themselves had misread which side of the 45 the "hit" would
emerge from.
