I finally located a promo 45 for this song. Although the stock 45 length
was the one I remember hearing on early 1969 AM radio, it runs almost
(4:00), and I always wanted to confirm that a shorter edit hadn't been
serviced to radio.
"Hang 'Em High" is on only one side of my promo. No "short edit" appears.
It is mono, on styrene, confirmed as Stax 0013, has both a listed and
actual time of (3:53), with deadwax info of "ST-0068-B ZTSB 129917-
1C". (FYI, the flip side, "Over Easy" has deadwax of "ST-0067-A". Although
my promo 45 label does not denote "Plug Side", or have a grease pen "X"
for either side, at least at the time of pressing, it appears that Stax's
intention was to have "Over Easy" be the 45's A-side.)
Since this Top 10 instrumental hit has not previously had its own post, I
might as well also share my stock 45's details. It is vinyl, in mono, has a
listed time of (3:53), an actual time of (3:52), with deadwax of "ST-0068-
B ZTSB 129917-1E".
