Coming July 1st from Real Gone Music:
Ronnie Dove: The Complete Original
Chart Hits 1964-1969
1. Say You
2. Right or Wrong
3. Hello Pretty Girl
4. One Kiss for Old Times Sake
5. A Little Bit of Heaven
6. I'll Make All Your Dreams Come True
7. Kiss Away
8. When Liking Turns to Loving
9. Let's Start All Over Again
10. Happy Summer Days
11. I Really Don t Want to Know
12. Cry
13. One More Mountain to Climb
14. My Babe
15. I Want to Love You for What You
Are
16. Dancin' Out of My Heart
17. In Some Time
18. Mountain of Love
19. Tomboy
20. What's Wrong with My World
21. I Need You Now
16 of the 21 track are stereo,
including most of the top 40 hits. Say
You will be at the correct speed, Kiss
Away will be the correct 45 version.
Here is the blurb from Amazon, who is
already taking preorders (though Real
Gone will be offering an autographed
booklet with, I think, the first 70 or
so orders through them):
He notched over 20 hits and was a
fixture on the charts throughout the
mid-60s, but to date Ronnie Dove has
not received the definitive
retrospective he deserves, as
inferior-sounding album reissues and
compilations have cluttered up the
marketplace. Now, at last, Real Gone
is filling a BIG gap in 60s pop
collecting with the release of The
Complete Original Chart Hits 1964-
1969, a 21-track collection (16 in
stereo) that includes every pop hit
this Baltimore-based legend had during
his sterling career, remastered by
Evren Göknar and Marty Wekser at
Capitol Mastering Studios mostly from
newly available Diamond label tape
sources. Joseph Lanza's liner notes
include quotes from Ronnie himself as
well as never before seen photos and
memorabilia from his and co-compiler
Tom Diehl's personal collections. By
far the most comprehensive and best-
sounding Ronnie Dove collection ever
compiled, with several tracks
appearing on CD in first-time stereo.

Exciting news, Tom! In addition to getting Ronnie Dove's hits in
hopefully much improved sound quality, I'm looking forward to finally
acquiring the hit version of "Kiss Away" on CD.

Pretty cool! Would've liked all mono, but getting any decent quality on Ronnie Dove will be great...who knows, maybe the singles were fold-downs. Anyway, I'm in!

The Mono's aren't fold downs but these
were recorded in good studios that
makes the stereo mixes come alive.
Our original idea was to go all mono
as we knew where tapes were in the UK
but all of the later singles were disc
dubs on those tapes. Since we soon
uncovered some stereo tape sources
elsewhere, we went with as much stereo
as we could. By doing this, a handful
of these songs make their stereo CD
debut. There are some disc dubs where
tapes weren't located but with some
great people doing the mastering,
everything came out sounding great.
I'm very pleased with the finished
product.

This sounds like a winner to me. Fills a big gap in the
collection.

i just acquired this cd and the track 'i'll make all your
dreams come true' sounds like it's also mastered from
vinyl.....if you listen with headphones on there is an
awful lot of surface noise which is clearly audible at the
beginning while the kettle drum is pounding.........can
anyone else confirm what i am hearing....

Ed, yes a few of the very rare tracks on the set had to be mastered from vinyl. But these are the absolute BEST sources for these tracks they could locate anywhere in the world. The sound in this set blows away ANY previous CD releases which were almost ALL from vinyl, and poor sounding at that. MM

it if you love Ronnie Dove. As you won't find better.
