Not quite a top 40 hit (it peaked at #63 in late 1983), I do see that the 45 (3:46) is shorter than the LP (5:01). Can the 45 be extracted, or are there mix
differences which would preclude it?

Well, it can be extracted, but there's one bit of trickery.
From the LP version, edit out the following sections: (0:15.06) - (0:29.86), (1:13.18) - (1:42.36) and (3:06.49) - (3:21.07).
From the resulting edit, copy the section from (3:05.28) - (3:20.11) and paste it over the last 29 seconds of the LP version (starting at the word "anyway"). The fade
should start around (3:35) of the resulting edit.
Thanks to Ron G. for his dub of the 45!

Doug,
I'm only unclear on the last copy / paste section; do I grab at the beginning of "All I want..." or do I do it on the downbeat?
I ask because if I do it on the downbeat, I get the background singers singing "...I" and if I wait until the start of the lyric "All..." I get a beat of the guitar that takes out the LP version.
Can you clear this up for me? Thanks!
EDIT: Unless the timing on my copy is different and you copy it over the last "All I want..." before it goes into the guitar... That works perfectly.

Hi Gene. I used the lyric "anyway" as my reference point--it's the last
"anyway" before the guitar picks back up being where the section from
(3:05)-(3:20) should be pasted (the section at (3:05) also starts with the
word "anyway").
But whatever works. :)
