I'm working with Sony on a few Dionne Warwick CDs and I have a question about a non-top 40 hit - we're trying to determine if "Whisper in the Dark" really had a single that differed from the album. (I don't have the single.) The album clocks in around 4:31 and I can see there's a 4:12 listing on the single labels (and even in the Joel Whitburn books). But a Sony master tape single indicates a timing of 4:31, and we don't really know if there was a shorter version at all. And this may be a case of Clive Davis printing the single label with a shortened time to fool the programmers into thinking they have a shorter song. So if any top 100 collectors have this actual 45, can they please time it?
