I know the song only got to #51 on the BB100, but I was wondering how to re-
create the single edit. The LP version runs 4:50, and the single edit runs 3:30.

Thanks to user Jimct for sending me a file of the 1987 dub 45 promo. I made
an error in saying that the single ran 3:30, that was actually the U.K. version of
the single, while the US and AUS version ran at a shorter 4:06.
Basically, the intro and ending are trimmed.
If anybody has the U.K. 3:30 version of this song, I'd love to hear it, as I was
under the impression that that was how short the US version ran.

Welcome Radiofan16 to this board. I'm confused with the times you posted. You stated that the UK version runs 3:30, but then you wrote the US and Australian versions also run 3:30. Perhaps it's a typo for the US timing for the promo edit.

Simply FYI, both my A&M 2905 stock 45 and both sides of my promo 45
have both a listed & actual time of (4:04).
Perhaps because Pat only lists U.S. CDs in his database, and has also
chosen to note U.S. stock/promo 45/12"/LP/CD differences there, while
opting to omit all non-U.S. releases since Day 1, we here on the forum
have basically followed his lead on that. Much of what we uncover in our
combined research efforts get updated in his database, which is another
reason why we 99%+ focus on U.S. song releases here.
On occasion, Canadian pressings info are noted by several regular T4MOC
posters who live there, but that is by far the exception. My long-term
observation has been that the majority of our non-U.S. forum posters also
focus, by far, on U.S. releases. In fact, Abagon (from Japan) has somehow
acquired thousands of U.S. chart hit pressings, and has kindly shared
many of those details with us on here. Now that I think about it, I don't
recall anyone here *ever* asking him about any of the Japanese releases
he surely owns, just to demonstrate our "parameters of focus" to date.
So, while I never say never, radiofan16, just know that if your area of
personal 45v interest is non-U.S. product, I suspect the chances that any
of the regulars on here having a UK 45 of a #51 U.S. hit from 1987 laying
around would be almost zero. In fact, if I hadn't helped you here, I think it
quite likely that no one else even has a U.S. 45 copy of it.
Hoping this T4MOC background info will help you, going forward.
