I finally obtained the last of three US promos (at least the only three I know of) for "My Name Is Prince." Here are the details:
PRO-CD-5770
1. Edit (listed 4:05; actual 4:04)
2. Album Version (listed & actual 6:36)
PRINCE EDIT (V)
1. CHR Edit-No Rap (actual 3:39)
2. CHR Edit-With Rap (actual 4:04)
PRINCE (V)
1. non-described version (actual 3:35)
The 2nd and 3rd listed CD singles are factory pressed discs, but they have no printing anywhere on the discs and no inserts. The only identifier on the actual disc is in the matrix number, which I have posted above as "PRINCE (V)" and "PRINCE EDIT (V)."
"PRINCE EDIT (V)" has a typewritten sticker on the front that lists the versions, while the other disc does not have anything at all. Both of the non-labeled discs have cleaner versions than the standard promo with the "Edit" version. Although the run times are very close between two (3:35 and 3:39), they are edited differently. In the end, I suppose it didn't make much of a difference, since the song stalled at #36 on the Hot 100 and didn't crack the top 40 in airplay.
