Couldn't find a thread on this one (surprisingly)...
Has anyone come across either of the two 45 versions? It's a top 40 song I
have that I am still missing a correct version in my collection.

David, I believe you started a topic on this already. I'll bump it up for you.

Thanks, Paul. I indeed did a search first, but got zero hits. And now I know
why. A search is case sensitive. So, when I search for DONNIE OWENS, I get
the previous thread. When I search for Donnie Owens, I don't. As a former IT
guy, I think that's just not right, for this website at least.
Others have had "no find" issues before...perhaps this is why.

Well, this forum software is quite old (2003/04?), and I'm guessing it's
just a pre-made package that Pat purchased and installed on the web
server. Any functionality and features (or lack of) would've come from
the software developer who made it, just like any program or
application you buy for a computer. It might be worth him checking to
see if there are any updates that could be installed to improve the
search function.

I've sometimes found that dashes can throw off topic searches when the song title is immediately followed by a dash (with no space separating them.) Search for the title without the dash and sometimes it won't find it.

Actually, I searched for owens (all lower-case) under topic only and it came up right away. Perhaps the problem is on your end? Anyway, I often find it helpful to search for certain key words as sometimes a title or artist name can have a typo or punctuation that throws off a search.

No, the problem is not on my end. When I search for owens (all lower-
case) under topic, I also get a hit for the old thread. I also get a hit when I
search for Owens and any combination of upper/lower case in a one-
word search for that matter. But no hit for Donnie Owens nor
donnie owens. Problem seems to be a combination of when more than
one word is searched and upper/lower case in involved.

Yeah I discovered the case thing a few years ago so I do
all my searches in lower case, and I've found that the
fewer words the better. I've had times where I entered a
titles exactly as they appear in the thread title and no
result, but if I put one word in, what i wanted will be in
among the other results.

Gotcha. Like Mark, I try to use just one keyword and that seems to help quite a lot.
