LP version (runs about 5:31)
I have three versions, all of which sound just fine for the LP version:- Priority's Mega-Hits Dance Classics Vol. 12 (1993, a little loud, but sounds quite nice)
- EMI Australia's 5-CD Seventies Complete Vol. 2 (1999)
- Time-Life's 2-CD Seventies Music Explosion One-Hit Wonders (2005)
I picked the Time-Life disc for my library, but the Priority disc would be a close second.
Longer than the 45 version
The oldest CD I have with the song is RCA's Nipper's Greatest Hits The '70s (1989), where it runs 4:07. The edits are the same as the 45, but the length is much longer - it's 44 seconds longer than the 45 version. Not sure why this was released this way, since there was no 4:07 release of the song in 1976. The same analog transfer is used for Razor & Tie's 2-CD Super '70s (1995), where it's faded early to a length of 3:45. There was no 1976 release with a 3:45 time, either.
45 version (runs about 3:23)
The oldest CD to include the 45 version is Rhino's Disco Years Vol. 1 (1990), where it sounds great. All the other CDs I have with the song use the same analog transfer as Disco Years Vol. 1:- Razor & Tie's 2-CD Disco Fever (1991)
- Time-Life's Sounds Of The Seventies Vol. 27 Dance Fever (1992)
- Warner Special Products' 2-CD Ultimate Party Album (1992)
- Warner Special Products' 2-CD Disco Collection (1993)
- Sony's Collector's Edition Disco (1995)
- JCI's Only Dance 1975-1979 (1995)
- Warner Special Products' 18 Disco Superhits (1996)
- Time-Life's Sounds Of The Seventies Vol. 45 '70s Dance Party 1976-1977 (1997; differently-EQ'd digital clone)
- Rhino's Millennium New Disco Party (2000; digitally exactly 1.214 dB louder)
My recommendation for the 45 version: Rhino's Disco Years Vol. 1 (1990)
