I didn't find a thread on this song so here's a new one.

Pat, I was comparing the hit version of this song with
the ones on these two CD's:
(S)(3:11)Curb 77412 His Greatest Songs Today
(rerecorded)

(S)(3:09)Varese Sarabande 302066728 Because Of You -
The Love Songs Collection (truncated fade)

These two CDs both contain the same version.
I thought the vocal was remarkably similar to the hit
version so I sync'd them up and discovered they are
actually a "(remix with added instrumentation)"

Most of the extra production is twangy electric guitars
added. They start right at the intro so this remix is
easy to spot. The hit 45 version starts only with a
piano and accordion.

Oh, and the rest of the "His Greatest Songs Today" CD are
indeed re-recordings. Just not this one song...strange.

I had the original mix on a Curb compilation CD.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. It came out in
the 80s or early 90s.

The Curb comp with the hit version is Curb 77317 "70's Hits Volume 1" from 1990.
That was a good disc to pick up back then as it contained several hits you couldn't find anywhere else at the time.

I think that's the one! "My Melody Of Love" sounds good
on it, too!

Yeah, I bought that CD in 1990 and was so glad for all the "first-time-on-CD" songs.
