In my never ending quest to go back as far as I can in time, I am short the 11 tracks in the below list of songs in lossless to fill out the top 10 in Whitburn's 1940-1954 book. All sources I have came from a CD. I am trying NOT to turn to a 78 or 45 unless I have to...
Pat, because your database starts at 1954 I presumed I was not intruding on any information by requesting help with the remaining top 10 singles I can't locate in years before your database starts. If I am I apologize. I just don't know honestly which CD would have them and I figure that some individuals on here (who happen to be in the UK or other countries) might have more information to identify them where they are on CD so I can complete the top 10 and move on to 1953!
Ames Brothers- Man With The Banjo
Four Tunes- I Understand Just How You Feel
Eddie Fisher- A Girl, A Girl (Zoom-Ba Di Alli Nella)
Eddie Fisher- Green Years
Hilltoppers- From The Vine Came The Grape
Henri Rene- The Happy Wanderer (Vai-De Ri, Vai De Ra)
June Valli- I Understand
Denise Lor- If I Give My Heart To You
Johnny Desmond- Woman
Tony Martin- Stranger In Paradise
Connee Boswell- If I Gave My Heart To You
A quick question if anyone knows the answer:
Does anyone know if Deacon Andy Griffith- What It Was, Was Football (Parts I & II) was actually played in its entirety (5:42) and where part 1 ends and part 2 begins? I wasn't alive back then, but maybe Joel Whitburn knows the answer to this one!
FYI, I have the tracks missing in lossy, so I am holding out hope that there are lossless versions of them out there on CD i can buy somewhere...Thanks!

The Ames Brothers song is on Very Best Of (Taragon 1041).
The Four Tunes song is on Choice Voices (Collectors' Choice 099).
Both Eddie Fisher songs are on The Very Best Of (Taragon 1031).
The Hilltoppers song is on P.S. I Love You - Best Of (Varese Sarabande 5524).
Both the June Valli and Denise Lor songs are on Fabulous 50s Divas Sing Their Hard To Find Hits (Hit Parade 12301).
The Johnny Desmond song is on The '50s Remembered (Varese Sarabande 5782)
The Tony Martin song is on The Best Of Tony Martin On RCA (Collectors' Choice 046).
All the above CDs also contain post-1954 hits, so all these CDs are mentioned in the database.
I only have the Henri Rene song in lossy, but it does not sound like a disc dub to me, so it must be on CD from a tape source somewhere.
The Connee Boswell song I only have on a 78.

Part 1 of "What It Was, Was Football" ends at about 2:49 (after the word 'hollered' and a few chuckles from the audience). Part 2 starts with 'And I asked..'. (The audience noises between 'hollered' and 'And I asked' are on Part 1.)
On the 45 the two parts appeared on separate sides, but on the EP the performance was not separated. I would guess that most radio stations played the EP.

Paul C,
Is there a CD that has part 1 and part 2 as separate tracks for the Andy Griffith track? Or possibly a digital download?
Also good news is that I am now just missing 3 tracks from the top 10 that didnt check out well on Traders Helper:
June Valli - I Understand (Just How You Feel) .wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 95%.
Lou Monte - Darktown Strutters' Ball.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 95%.
Tony Martin - Stranger In Paradise.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 90%

I'm not aware of any CDs that have parts 1 and 2 of "What It Was, Was Football" as separate tracks. I do know of one CD which I don't have, The Side-Splitting Homespun Comedy And Songs Of Andy Griffith, that only has Part 1.
