These 2 were released in the US 1983 and distributed by GSA Records
& Tapes. Vol. 1 is of interest in that it includes The Beach Boys Medley.
Does anyone have any info they like to share? Sorry if this topic has
been talked about before. Thanks in advance! 😀👍

I bought that CD Single when it came out, specifically for that Medley. I don't know if it's been on any other CD's since
then.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could get all those Medley hits that charted between 1981-82 on CD in their original 45 versions
from tape? Especially all the Stars On 45 Medleys, the ones from The Beatles and Elvis, The Summer Of '81 Medley and the
Hooked On Classics/Swing medleys? I know it'll probably never happen, but it's nice to think about, anyway!

I have the Volume 1 LP with the medley on it. I haven't confirmed if it's
the actual single version or not.

Wasn't it only available as a single when it first came
out in 1981? I don't think there's an Album Version to
compare it to. If the Medley runs somewhere in the area
of about 4:10, it's probably the correct version.

I had been told many years ago of the existence of a longer non-single
version. Maybe it was a 12 inch release?

There is a longer Medley on The Beach Boys Rarities CD
from Japan. Don't know where it comes from, though.
There's no listings on Discogs of a 12" Single with a
longer version.

This may be the longer version of the Medley. Beach Boys Medley Uptempo

The Rarities CD also has a "Ballad" Medley running over 9 minutes. Beach Boys Medley Ballad

A note: The Beach Boys Medley on Summer Fun,Volume 1 is
the single version. It's from a good tape source on this
LP, as are the rest of the tracks in these two volumes.
The LP pressings are very high quality, with quiet
surfaces. Mastered and pressed by RCA in Indianapolis,
Indiana when they got their quality back to superb after
the Dynaflex debacle. I recommend these two LP discs in
near mint condition for those hunting singles versions.
