I have had the 45 and LP versions of this song "Driver's
Seat" for several years as it has been a favorite for me
since 1979.
While running errands Friday morning with SiriusXM 70's
on I heard the tail end of a version of this song I have
never heard before.
Earlier today I came across the 12 inch version on
Amazon Music. Amazing how this one got by me all these
years. Anyone who has not heard the l2 mix / version
should seek out a listen. I do not know but it may be a
different take instead of a mere remix.

Looks like it was remixed in 1980 and released in the
UK. That version runs 5:48 and appears on a 1991 Ace UK
CD release.

It's funny how things like this evade us for such a long time. It was well after the year 2000 that I discovered what I assume is the album version of Rare Earth's cover song,
"Get Ready." All I ever ever heard up until then was the 45 version. It was like a musical epiphany to her that extra long version the first time.
I think I might have that 12" of Sniff 'n The Tears song. And I agree, it is much better than the 45 version. I am somewhat partial to many 12" versions anyway.
