If there has been a previous discussion of "Don't Go To
Strangers" by Etta Jones, I was not able to find it.
I do not have an original US Prestige 45, but my Canadian
Quality 45 runs 2:41, as does the YouTube upload of what
is described as the original US Prestige 45 by our friend
the 45prof.
Joel Whitburn's Pop Annual 1955-1999 gives the run
time as 3:49 and the song runs 3:48-3:49 on all CDs in
the database. It also runs 3:49 (in stereo) on the
'Original Jazz Classics' re-issue 45 I have (issued in
1984).
The original Canadian 45 states the run time as 2:42, but
images I've seen of original US 45s do not state a run
time.
Does anyone have an original US Prestige 45? If Joel and
the 45prof are both correct, then there are two different
original US 45s.

I have finally been able to track down a U.S. 45 and,
unlike both the 45prof's YouTube upload and my Canadian 45,
it runs 3:49. So, assuming the 45prof's upload is from an
actual U.S. 45, there were two different pressings of
Prestige 45-180, one featuring the full LP version running
3:49 and one with an edit running 2:41.

What portion is cut out on the edit for the short 45?

the45prof has reposted the long version of the song. So seems there remains
no evidence of a short US 45, unlike there being a short CAD 45.
