O.K. so there's a lot of AOR tracks that I'm not familiar with (maybe 40-50), but one jumped out at #489! As you know,
I'm from Chicago and this is a track that I thought was just a 'local' hit. To see it on a St. Louis list or national
list is kind of shocking. -Bill.

Our local classic rock station (WKLH) did something different this year. They played the Top 500 songs, but didn't rank
them. It was still the usual suspects, but at least the presentation was unique.

"Lake Shore Drive" is all about the Chicago road--runs adjacent to Lake Michigan (hence the name). It's now
officially called "Jean Baptiste du Sable Lake Shore Drive."

The northernmost edge of Lake Shore Drive is at Hollywood Avenue (thus the line about "it's starts up North from
Hollywood"), and goes all the way south to Marquette Drive (about 16 miles). Then there's a small gap before it
resumes for another few miles.

It's a gorgeous view.

I tend to like countdowns like this but pay less attention
to the rankings (as they can be subjective unless going by
sales, airplay, etc.) and more to the songs included on the
list. I also love these Rock/AOR lists as it helps me to
fill in any potential gaps in my collection on "big songs"
that did not make the Hot 100 Charts.

I do have to say that I am pretty amazed there is no
representation of Springsteen at all. That's all I got :-)

I think this great tune may have got more exposure and
audience from being featured in the movie and soundtrack of
"Guardians of the Galaxy". Perhaps more so than the days of
being current with radio air play.

I never heard "Lake Shore Drive" until I moved to Milwaukee in 1992. Even though the song is actually about the road in
Chicago, we have one in Milwaukee too and it's also some great scenery.

I'm guessing this was assembled from listener votes. If you haven't yet guessed, it's from KSHE. Still a popular station with the rockers and such.

If I really wanted to look and make judgements about what's missing, I can log in to their website and comment. Might be fun!

Did they miss the Martian Boogie? Totally disgraceful as well as the earlier mentioned lack of any Springsteen. I did finally get my collection of 100 Saint Louis Rock CDR discs ripped to files.
I'll bet if I look through those I'll find dozens of omissions from this list. I'll likely email my older brothers and ask them what's missing.

The only other comment I can make about Lake Shore Drive is, Thanks for clearing that up for me as well!
