Before I thought to check the database, I wanted to create the 7" edit from my Cosmic Thing CD. I guessed at it about a year ago and still wound up about 15 seconds over.
Tonight, I realized I had the 45 so I sat down to figure out the cuts, in case anyone is curious. Here's how you piece it together - lots of little cuts miniaturizing the song. Much easier to buy the single somewhere. Remember, all times are from the long CD version:
1 - 0.00-0.03 (cut at the beat before "If you see")
2 - 0.07-1.09 (cut during the chorus)
3 - 1.16-2.16 (Cut during "whole shack shimmies")
4 - 2.25-2.52 (Cut from the 2nd riff to "Hop in my Chrysler")
5 - 3.00-3.32 (Cut from the 2nd horn toot to "Love...baby, that's where it's at")
6 - 3.40-3.47
7 - 3.54-4.02
8 - 4.17-4.26
9 - 4.33-END -
Then fade the applause at 4:18 (not 4:15 as listed on the record.)
This one has been relatively tricky to find - I believe the , as it's not

The edited 45 version is also available on a UK double CD compilation "The Greatest Hits Of 1990" (tcd 2439).

Unless I'm missing something, isn't the 45 available via several Rhino
comps?

It is - on several discs!
In retrospect, I guess my post was (1) a lesson on the importance of checking the database before spending time chopping. Whoops. And:
(2) To help anyone interested in editing a CD version to time, rather than dropping a couple dollars on the edited version.
Nothing groundbreaking here, folks. :)

According to abagon, the actual and printed commercial 45 run time of the B-52's "Love Shack" is 4:15 and states "Edit" on the record label. At present, the database notes only the DJ CD single info.
