the cassingle issued as epic 74003 contains a non-described version which runs 4:10 and is the same as track 2 on the promo cd single, the "7 inch version" issued on epic zsk 74003....the first track on the promo cd single is the "bb outta here mix" running 5:48.........this should be noted in the db.....

Since this song came up recently in another thread, does anyone recall ever hearing the "BB Outta Here Mix" on their local Top 40 station? I was living overseas at the time and was accustomed to hearing the single version on Shadoe Stevens' American Top 40.

Todd, our station also played the "7" Version" back in 1990. However, the promo CD single we received in for the song did include your mentioned "BB Outta Here Mix", as track 1. Here are the particulars:

Babyface-"Tender Lover" (ZSK 74003)
1-BB Outta Here Mix (listed & actual 5:48)
2-7" Version (listed & actual 4:10)

Correct, Jim. I just find it odd that a longer remix was issued as Track 1 on the promo CD single, especially when it seems few, if any, Top 40 stations played it.

The early '90s sure were a strange and confusing time for promo and commercial single releases. We've seen numerous examples on this board of how difficult it can be to determine official "hit" versions for many Top 40 songs during that time period!

it should be noted that the 7" version, which is the cassingle version, contains a rap by bobby brown...
