Is there a promo CD for "Laid" where the word "c&%s" is replaced with "sings"
The only way I was able to get this version was to rip it from VH1-Classic.

I do have a 1-track promo on Fontana/Mercury 1010. It's a cardboard sleeve promo, and I'm 99.9% sure it has the word "comes." I can't seem to locate it, which probably means it's packed away at my parents' house. I don't ever recall hearing a version with the clean lyric, which also makes me think that the promo I have is not the version you're looking for.

Yes, the radio version has the word "sings".
Although I don't own the original promo CD, my 'Promo Only' DJ subscription version has the "sings" replacement of "comes".

Good info, Andy. I'm going to have to have my parents dig it out to see if my copy is censored or not.

Good to know about it being on Promo Only! I have been looking for a promo copy of that for years (12 to be exact) and can't find it anywhere. Every commercial single has the word "comes" and my local radio station always plays the "sings" version. Do you guys trade mp3's at all or are we on our own? Some of this stuff is impossible to find on CD or it just takes too long.

I have a copy of the clean version also on an RPM hitdisc (also known as Top Hits USA) It was sent to us as a demo by the company to sell the service.

I have the elusive promo CD single for this, CDP 1010. It contains one track, and Aaron's recollection is correct - the "comes" lyric is indeed present on this issued version.

Thank you, Jim! I appreciate the help. I won't have my parents try to locate this one.

I have two copies of CDP 1010 in front of me. Neither one has any mention of a specific version. One of them has the lyrics "she only comes when she's on top" and the other one has the lyrics "she only sings when she's on top."
The matrix numbers are almost impossible to read on each one, but here's what I can see.
CDP1010 appears on both copies, and so does DISC MFG INC.
"Comes" version has W O 77408-1M
"Sings" version has W O 77632-2V
Finally, all these years later, I was able to answer your question :)

Could you please pass along the running time information (stated and actual) on both dj cd single versions?

Interesting...wonder if the label sent out specific version to specific stations. I remember the alternative station back then used the album version. The "pop" station used the "sings" version. Thank you so much for ending this mystery!

Sorry. That was a typo. The actual time is 2:37, not 2:27. I have corrected my mistake above.

I was ripping this to my digital library tonight, and I noticed something I
hadn't before. While the printed catalog number of the "sings" version
says CDP1010, in microscopic backwards print in the inner ring it says
CDP1108. There's one more clue for anyone looking for this particular
disc.
