Although there's no mention of different versions in the database, my US 2-track CD single of "I'll Be" by Foxy Brown feat. Jay-Z has the censored version. I'm not sure if more than one CD single was released in the US (censored and uncensored), or if the official single version would be the censored version.

I bring this up again (I try to match all my CD singles to see if they match the US versions). Could anyone please tell me the difference between the censored and uncensored version (I've got the UK Cd single - stated just 'LP version' - (3.00) - actual runtime 2.57).

If you look up the lyrics online, though those aren't always correct, on the censored version, you can tell where there were words muted.

I should point out that Foxy Brown featuring Jay-Z's "I'll Be" is on the MTV Party to Go '98 CD (Tommy Boy 1234), but the song currently does not show up in the database as appearing on that disc. The description on the CD jacket for "I'll Be" states: "radio edit" and has an actual run time of 3:35. All tracks on this CD are segued together.
So I guess it also begs the question... Does a radio edit resembling such a run time exist on a promo single?

FYI, my one-track promo CD single for this song has a huge listed time difference, appearing on both the paper insert and the disc itself:
Foxy Brown featuring Jay-Z--"I'll Be" (DEF 114-2)
1-Radio Edit (listed 3:59; actual 3:01)
Todd, my findings seem to shed no light at all regarding the (3:35) "Radio Edit" found on your MTV CD.

Todd, the MTV Party To Go albums often times used pieces of the instrumentals or looped sections of music to make it possible to mix the songs together beat-to-beat. The songs are not merely "segued" together in the sense that one slightly overlaps the end of another.

Good point, Aaron. And thank you, Jim, for passing along the promo CD single info.

For database consideration (and to expand on Aaron's initial post), I thought I'd pass along that commercial single copies of Foxy Brown featuring Jay-Z's "I'll Be" state "LP version" but is censored and has an actual run time of 2:59.
By the way, Pat, the promo CD single information for this song currently only shows up in the database when conducting an artist search under Foxy Brown, but not when searching under Jay-Z.
