My Father calls me on the phone this morning, puts this song playing on the radio and says "I'd like you to get this for me".
Now, I do recall having heard it before, probably on a classics/adult contemporary station, I suspect it is from the 70's because of its sound, and I am an 80's guy, so the prior decade is not my specialty.
All I can remember is that in the chorus, the male voice says "the way that i love you, the way that it should be".
It is probably very vague of course, but maybe somebody reading might be a fan and recognize it, hehehe. It sounded like a mellow solo John Lennon song, kind of that, though I don't think it was him.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
And a hello again to everyone, have not written in a while, although I have been visiting.
Johann

Sounds like Lobo's "I'd Love You To Want Me."

Yes, that's Lobo's "I'd Love You To Want Me". The chorus goes:
Baby, I'd love you to want me
The way that I want you
The way that it should be
Love that song. It's from 1972.

That's a first. Usually someone beats me. :-)
And you're right, Gordon. That's a great tune.

So, my Father is in love again at 64, and now wants not just Lobo's "I'd Love You To Want Me", but a whole CD of similar music.
70's experts, can you think of songs in the same vein, that you'd care to share to make a nice compilation for a romantic, "I'm happy to be alive thanks to love" mood?
Like Olivia Newton John's "Hopelessly Devoted To You", etc.
Thanks once again!

Well, Johann, you probably can't go wrong with anything by Barry Manilow. :)
Actually, Manilow's "Could It Be Magic" would fit the bill nicely. And for something less schmaltzy, Gary Wright's "Love Is Alive" would also work.

Thanks Doug! I actually have a Barry Manilow Greatest Hits CD and did not even remember I did. Bought it at a bargain bin long ago. I will grab it tonight to use for the list!
