I have an import CD single of this track that includes radio edit, album version, and instrumental. For the life of me, I can not figure out how the 2 vocal versions differ. When I pop the disc into Itunes, radio edit comes up as 3:52, album version comes up as 3:48. When I play both tracks, the song officially stops at 3:46. I followed along with the lyrics, they are the same. The mixes sound exactly alike also. Can ANYONE shed any light on this situation? Thanks.

To confuse the issue even more, I have a radio edit fading at 3:38 and ending at 3:41. I also have a version called [Main] and that fades at 3:40 and then you can lightly hear it end completly at 3:46.

When I was working in Detroit radio at the time this song was a hit, our station also played "Unfoolish," which is the remix to "Foolish." This track is included on the Ashanti full-length album, but it's currently not noted in the database.
Should "Unfoolish" be included in the database, since it's a remix that did receive airplay? If I had to guess, both versions were probably counted under "Foolish" instead of charting separately. Maybe Paul Haney or Chuck can comment further on this.

I was working for Mediabase at the time Foolish was a hit (monitoring CHR stations), and I recall that airplay from remixes were merged with the regular versions (this happened with Jennifer Lopez's Ain't It Funny). The only time with mediabase that I recall the opposite happening was with DHT's version of Listen To Your Heart, where the "candlelight" version charted seperately.

Thanks, Chuck! "I Need A Girl (Part 1)" and "I Need A Girl (Part 2)" had separate chart runs, if I'm not mistaken; however, they may have been released several months apart. "Foolish" and "Unfoolish" (I think) were released around the same time, as was the J-Lo example you mention.

DJ Sammy's "Heaven" also charted twice on Mediabase's CHR chart (the dance
version first, and while that was dropping the candlelight version hit the Top
40).

Yes, but Chuck, didn't "Listen To Your Heart" also have two chart runs? Or did they combine airplay for both the dance mix and the slow version?

Both had candlelight versions. I just talked with a mediabase colleague, and it was DJ Sammy's Heaven that charted two versions on the CHR chart. I think the candlelight version of DHT charted AC.

I have a US promo CD single (Murder Inc. DEFR 15536-2) with the following tracks:
1. Mainstream Edit [3:32]
2. Instrumental [3:50]
3. Call Out Research Hook [0:12]
Timings are my own and may be off by a second or two. There are no stated run times.
