Jrjr, my 45 has a listed and actual time of (3:48). I believe the first :25 seconds of the "Trilogy" LP version has simply been removed, creating the 45 version. My timer shows (3:51 remaining) on the CD track when I hear the "45 intro" begin; listening carefully, I am 99% sure that my 45 has been sped up, which accounts for the remaining :03 difference (3:48 vs 3:51) in running times. The "45 version" is not currently on CD, but can be easily recreated.

Jrjr, my good buddy Aaron K has volunteered to assist me in tackling this simple one for you - thanks, Aaron! I will mp3 him a dub of my 45. Be patient, sir, PM me soon with your e-mail, Jrjr, and I will shoot you out an mp3 of his digital finished 45 product sometime soon.

Jim is correct about the intro being edited off for the 45 version.

thanks to aaronk and jimct for the 45 edit of this... my question now, was the original 45, cotillion 44158, mono or stereo??? being released in 1972. it kind of falls into that grey area, esp. for atlantic records and its subsidiaries...

The original stock 45 is mono.

The promo 45 was mono/stereo; both sides show the same 3:48 time, though I haven't checked them. Jim's timing of the stock version above is likely the same as the promo.
