For some reason I posted a note under this heading an hour ago but it never appeared. Don't know why. (Pat, do you know what would have happened?)

In Pat's book, he refers to "Ding Dong Ding Dong" on the "Dark Horse" CD as LP version. However, I compared the commercial 45 to the CD and hear no differences, not in mix, length, or editing. Pat, was your 45 source a dj copy? Or were there 2 types of commercial 45s released? If not, I think these are identical.

You are right, the 45 I used for comparison was a dj copy which runs 3:12 and I incorrectly assumed that was the length of the commercial 45.

Once you know if the 3:12 version is a 45 length or 45 version, please let us know.

Nevermind: I just realized you indicate the long version as "LP version."

Actually, EdisonLite, it looks like the 3:12 version Pat has is the DJ edit.

Yes, I was originally asking if the dj version was an edit or simply an early fade (I take it we shouldn't assume any 45 that actually says "edit" is an edit and may actually be an early fade.) My mistake to refer to a 45 length when it's a "dj 45."

Yes, the dj single is an edit.
