I just read something interesting in the new Rolling Stone. Kanye West mentioned that he made some last-minute changes to his new album, like changes in mixes, even after the CD was in production. The first 100,000 copies, he says, will not match the subsequent pressings.
I wonder if this will be a bigger issue as time goes on, especially once CD hard copies ride into the sunset. I know we've discussed multiple pressings of 45s and LPs ("How Will I Know" and "Lovergirl" come to mind.) So, something to watch in the future, maybe?
